Prologue
Shona Guthrie graduated from Glasgow School of Art in 2005. Night skies, surrounding environment and written word inspire her work. She uses photography as a fundamental stage of the design process, constructing visual diaries of environments, the sentiment of which she aims to translate in to unique pieces of jewellery. A product of this process, her work often bears a strong sense of geographical identity. Combinations of precious and non precious metals create vibrant colour contrasts; while the use of cast natural forms and text creates pieces that are not only rich in texture but that also carry a sense of history.
As well as producing work for exhibitions, Shona is available to work for private commission.
